During stressful and uncertain times, like the COVID-19 pandemic, it can be especially hard to stay motivated to be physically active. Sport North East acknowledges how things may look different in COVID-19 environment and how people may be experiencing insufficient social support, lack of access to exercise equipment and a physical place to exercise.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER THIS OCTOBER:
In order to better support and encourage all North East residents, Sport North East is launching their new campaign ‘SportoberVIC’ on the 1st of October 2021!
This campaign encourages all North East residents of all backgrounds, ages, abilities and body shapes and sizes to increase their physical activity levels through online engagement.
For each week of October, we will be releasing different walking, cycling, and running challenges for you, your family, and friends to complete. In addition, we will also be including two extra inclusive activities each week to cater for all abilities and active recreation. All our online challenges will be posted weekly on Facebook (Every Sunday evening, to be specific) and we encourage you to share your photos with us by using the hashtag #SportoberVIC or sending in photos via Facebook messenger. We would love to see how you made this campaign your own.
To top it all off, you will go into the draw to win a prize for participating in the campaign and engaging with us!
For those who aren’t on Facebook, don’t worry. We are posting all the weekly content on Sport North East’s website. Check in regularly on our website and you can be part of the fun:

It is important to remember that participating in any amount of physical activity is better than none!
By making the time to engage with SportoberVIC, you’ll be offered a safe space to engage and feel supported with our online community while achieving the countless benefits of regular physical activity.
Although not mandatory, we encourage all participants to increase online engagement by using “Strava”. Strava is an application you can download on your smartphone from Google Playstore or Appstore which tracks your fitness activity. Strava allows users to share photos, track activity and like and comment on posts.
Keep an eye on this page or our Facebook page to get the link to join SportoberVIC club on Strava.
If you are interested in learning more about how to use STRAVA, see below for instructions!
We look forward to your participation this October!
