Regional Women: Learn Support Lead

The Inaugural Regional Women in Sport Forum has brought together local female sports leaders and successful leaders within our sporting community.

The forum was an excellent opportunity for women to engage with their clubs to focus on gender equality and the benefits of having women as part of your team. Guest speakers included CEO of Netball Victoria Rosie King, AFLNEB Leagues Manager Noeline Elvin, and General Manager of NE Media Terry Harding. Other presentations covered issues such as respect and equity as well as practical tips on how to provide a welcoming environment and explore opportunities for funding of female friendly facilities.

‘Learn Support Lead: Activating female leaders in sport’ is a 12 month female mentoring and leadership program designed to activate the untapped skills and experience of local women on and off the field.

This program is for emerging leaders, and established leaders as mentors. The program guides participants through a series of workshops to build confidence, understanding and networks, ultimately allowing to unlock and realise leadership potential as players, coaches, administrators or committee members and in other roles within a club.
