Women In Sport Leadership Program

‘Learn Support Lead: Activating female leaders in sport’ is a 12 month female mentoring and leadership program designed to activate the untapped skills and experience of local women on and off the field.

The program includes two cohorts of women – emerging leaders, and established leaders who will act as mentors. The program will guide participants through a series of workshops to build confidence, understanding and networks, ultimately allowing them to unlock and realise their leadership potential as players, coaches, administrators or committee members and in other roles within their club. The program will benefit the individuals participating, their sporting clubs and the community

The leadership program is due to commence with the launch in July 2017, and run through until June 2018. There are monthly workshops that all participants are expected to attend. Topics covered in the program include:

  • Leadership styles and types of leaders
  • Verbal communication – the art of listening and speaking
  • Building networks
  • Developing a high performing team
  • Understanding boards and committees and how to run a board meeting

We are looking for participants from a variety of sporting codes and experiences. Expressions of interest close on 15 June 2017, and successful participants will be contacted by 29 June 2017. If you are interested in participating or being involved in some capacity, please email sportnortheast@thecentre.vic.edu.au or call 03 5721 0252.
