As part of a new program funded by VicHealth and facilitated by Sport North East, the VicHealth ‘Regional Sport Program’ (RSP) will focus on and look to make a big impact in two key areas by:
1. Supporting clubs to create and deliver new sport participation opportunities to encourage more people to become more active through sport
2. Working with clubs, leagues, sporting venues and local government to strengthen policy and practices to encourage athletes and spectators to choose water as their drink of choice for sport.
Through new and exciting participation programs Sport North East aims to increase community involvement in sport club’s to build more sustainable and welcoming clubs.
The program will also focus on supporting club initiatives to make water the drink of choice in the region, and reduce the amount of Sugar Sweetened Beverages (SSB’s) consumed by players and supporters.
