Improve sport for people with a disability
Victoria Police are partnering with Special Olympics Australia to hit the road to deliver an awareness tour across Victoria’s north east. The Law Enforcement Torch Run Tour is an opportunity to share the Flame of Hope with communities across regional Victoria and promote the importance of inclusion and acceptance for people with an intellectual disability (PWID).
In addition to Torch Runs in 10 towns and ‘Come and Try’ events in 4 regional centres, Special Olympics Australia is offering a FREE training session in Wangaratta and Wodonga to help local clubs help provide better opportunity to deliver sport to PWID.
The session is aimed to be practical with the focus being on providing club coaches and volunteers with the skills and resources to deliver better quality sport for PWID. It will also demonstrate how being an inclusive club is good for business – increasing your membership numbers by being more inclusive and making strong community partnerships.
